da 888casino: Chris Sutton believes that the title momentum has swung back towards Celtic but feels that Brendan Rodgers’ new recruits will have to hit the ground running.

Jeremy Toljan’s arrival on loan from Borussia Dortmund appears to have solved one problem area in the team but the same predictions were being made a year ago when Marvin Compper arrived from RB Leipzig.

With 15 matches matches left Celtic are six points ahead at the top of the SPFL table but after suffering four defeats already this season there is a vulnerability about them that wasn’t present during the Double Treble campaigns.

The arrivals of Jermain Defoe and Steve Davis delivered a winter boost at Rangers but they were brought back to earth with a bump when they made their debuts in a defeat at Kilmarnock.

Celtic cashed in with full points from three home matches and the feel good factor now centres over the east end of Glasgow.

In the Daily Record Sutton explained:

“I said a few weeks ago Rangers signing Jermain Defoe and Steve Davis had made them favourites for the title.

“The pendulum might have just swung back in the other direction after Celtic’s late flurry of business.

“The right back issue needed addressing and Jeremy Toljan arrives with a decent pedigree.

“He’ll need to hit the ground running though as getting all these new faces to gel will be the difference between building a lead and allowing the race to go to the wire.”

Toljan won’t be involved at St Johnstone on Sunday as Celtic take their strengthened squad on the road for the first time this year.

With new faces arriving as quickly as additions to the treatment room, the February schedule will be a demanding one including two clashes with Valencia.

Getting Kieran Tierney, Filip Benkovic and Leigh Griffiths back in the side would be a real boost if the title momentum is to remain with the seven-in-a-row champions.
