Following Steve Bruce’s sacking on 3 October, there has been a lot of speculation as to who will take the challenge of steering Villa back the other way and into the top half of the Championship.

Thus far their season has been well below their expectations, as Villa have only won one of their previous 10 league games.

A number of names have already been linked, but one that has been thrown into the mix, or rather he has thrown itself into the mix, is another ex-Villa man in Stiliyan Petrov, as per The Birmingham Mail.

The Bulgarian is held fondly in the hearts of Villa fans and was inducted into their hall of fame in 2013 when he retired, following treatment for acute leukaemia. He has previously coached Villa’s u23 and helped with the first team in 2016, but now has his sights set on the manager role.

Would he be a good appointment? Villa fans react below.
